The Secret Service is conducting drone tests over the capital

Remember that drone that crashed on the White House lawn a month ago and caused a bunch of fuss? Well, the Secret Service has now announced that it will be conducting its own drone exercises over the United States capital. This follows close behind the revelation that Homeland Security has also been conducting tests alongside the American military that involved arming commercial drones with automatic weapons or turning them into robot suicide bombers.

The airspace over Washington is heavily guarded and it’s illegal to fly drones within the confines of the capital. Unfortunately for the Secret Service, enforcing this restriction is very difficult due to the fact that drones don’t appear on radar, don’t broadcast their position to authorities, and they don’t require a license to purchase or operate. Obviously these restrictions will be lifted for the Secret Service to conduct its drone tests, but further details are scarce.
